Forests of Dumfries and the Solway
Forests of Dumfries and the Solway
The forests of the Solway Coast cloak the coastal plains and rolling hills between the towns of Dumfries and Dalbeattie. Each forest has its own distinctive character. Here you'll find woodland trails, picnic spots, wildlife and sweeping views.
Try out the mountain bike trails at Mabie and Dalbeattie. Both forests also have family-friendly trails for a stroll, cycle or horse-ride. Look for lizards along the old railway line at The Hills. Meander through soaring trees at Doach or enjoy coastal views from the wildflower meadows at Mark Hill.
