Important

Many of our destinations have been affected by Storm Bram. Please follow all local signage and check ahead of visiting for local closures.

We are prioritising tree clearance work based on immediate danger and/or access issues.

Walking in Glenmore Forest Park

Glenmore has some wonderful trails to explore. Here are some of our favourites:

Trails by the beach

Head to Loch Morlich and wander through a mixed forest along the easy Beach Trail. This goes by the Allt Mor burn and the golden sands of Loch Morlich. For a longer walk, try the Loch Morlich Trail, this two-hour circuit has fine views of the mountains as you wind through the woodland.

Forest trails

For a real taste of Glenmore’s mix of forest and hillside, take the Ryvoan trail to An Lochan Uaine (the Green Lochan) from the Glenmore Visitor Centre. There’s a lower section on broad, firm forest road that’s ideal for cycling or buggies. There’s also a upper section that dips and dives across the hillside, where bright green ferns nestle among the rocks. Go out and back on just one of the sections or do a circuit for the full experience.

Mountain walks

For a real work out, you can hike up Meall a’ Bhuachaille – the hill of the shepherd – straight from Glenmore Visitor Centre. The path doesn’t stop climbing all the way to the top at 2600 ft (810 metres), but the views are superb.
