Wauchope West land management plan (LMP) covers some 4191 hectares of the western half of Wauchope Forest. It includes Shankend, Whitrope and Wauchope Burn forest blocks, and the old forest nursery just south of Bonchester Bridge.

Hyndlee, Lethem and Peel forest blocks are covered separately by Wauchope East LMP.

It is part of Scotland’s national forests and land owned by Scottish Ministers on behalf of the people of Scotland and managed by Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS). Wauchope West LMP defines the management prescription for the next ten years (2024-34) and presents the vision for the long-term management of the area.

The plan has been developed in accordance with the requirements of the UK Forestry Standard (UKFS) and its supporting guidelines.  The UKFS is the benchmark for sustainable forestry practice, and the Scottish Government is committed to its use.
