North Mull Land Management Plan consultation
The North Mull land management plan (LMP) area lies between Tobermory and Dervaig at the north end of the Isle of Mull and incorporates the three forest blocks of Aros, Ardmore and Quinish. These diverse areas incorporate amongst commercial conifer crops areas of ancient woodland and important heritage sites including scheduled monuments and many deserted villages, as well as priority open habitats across the north coast of Mull and to the south of Tobermory.
The primary objectives for the plan area are: Commercial timber production; restoration of Plantations on Ancient Woodland Sites; enhancement and protection of key habitats and species including habitat networks; provide adequate access infrastructure; protect and enhance cultural heritage assets; protect and enhance water features and water supplies; landscape improvement; further design improvements associated with visitors and facilities; and taking into account guidance on forest resilience and diversification in response to climate change. Certification under the UK Woodland Assurance Scheme is another important objective to which the plan will contribute.
