Kilsture Land Management Plan
The Kilsture Land Management Plan (LMP) comprises the single woodland block of Kilsture.The woodland is an isolated area of extensive broadleaf woodland that lies in the Machars between the small villages of Garlieston, Sorbie and Kirkinner around 16 km south of Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway.
The plan identifies management objectives a sets out our operations for the next 10 years. The plan was approved by Scottish Forestry’s South Scotland Conservancy on 25 May 2023 and expires 24 May 2033.
This land is part of Scotland’s National Estate, owned by the Scottish Ministers on behalf of the nation and managed by Forestry and Land Scotland. Successful delivery of the plan will contribute to the objectives of Forestry and Land Scotland’s Corporate Plan as well as the priorities, objectives and vision of Scotland’s Forestry Strategy. The plan has been developed in accordance with the requirements of the UK Forestry Standard (UKFS) and its supporting guidelines.
The UKFS is the benchmark for sustainable forestry practice and the Scottish Government is committed to its use.
