Callop & Drumfern land management plan
Callop & Drumfern land management plan
Callop and Drumfern Forest lies on the North Eastern shore of Loch Shiel less than 500 metres from the village of Glenfinnan and 28 km West of Fort William. This is an area that is iconic within Scotland and globally for its natural beauty. It is also an area steeped in history and rich in biodiversity, hence, the reason it has six environmental and landscape designations of national and international importance. The wet climate also influences the richness of the biodiversity and topography and the soil structure. The rugged and craggy topography reflects the geology of the Glenfinnan Moine – metamorphic rocks which are quartz rich having been heated and crushed deep in the Earth’s crust millions of years ago.
