The forests of the Black Isle are situated on the east coast of Scotland along the central spine of the Black Isle peninsula, with the Moray Firth to the south and the Cromarty Firth to the north. They are contiguous apart from Culbokie block to the north west and Gallow Hill, Allanglach and Drumderfit blocks to the south east (Map 1 - Location and Viewpoints).

The Black Isle LMP was approved by Scottish Forestry on the 19th of November 2023 meaning the current plan will be active until the 19th of November 2033. The new plan has addressed issues around forest structure by introducing small scale strip felling through large parts of the Black Isle. Furthermore, the changes of the current plan should lead to a more resilient and biodiverse forest whilst retaining a productive character. Over the course of the plan FLS will be implementing these changes. In 2028 a mid-term review will be conducted to assess progress of the plan.
