Glasgow may be the most densely populated city in Scotland but there are plenty of places to explore…
This forest fringes Luce Bay, a sweep of shore where bombers practised during World War 2. Part of the bay is still a firing range, but there’s a peaceful path through the trees to the wonderfully-named Ringdoo Point. The route is not waymarked, but the main forest track is easy to follow.
The dunes, sandbanks and sea bed in the bay are a wild place, rich in wildlife and protected as a Special Area of Conservation. Bring your binoculars to watch for seabirds, especially in autumn and winter. Read the leaflet to find out more.
There is no charge to park in this car park. Please park with care and consideration. In particular please park in designated parking areas only and do not block entrances or gates.
From the A75 between Castle Kennedy and Glenluce, take the B7084 towards Portpatrick. Torrs Warren is just off this minor road, at grid reference NX 141 563.
