Dyemill
A great mix of walks here, from native woodland next to a burn, to heather moorland with views to the sea. Learn more about history here with a chambered cairn and the ruins of Lagaville clearance village.
Arran has waterfalls, hills, woodland and stunning coastline.
It's rich in wildlife and archaeology. The isle also has a red squirrel stronghold so look out for tufted ears and bushy tails through the trees.
Forests to visit
Glenrickard
This is the closest woodland to Brodick ferry and offers great views of Goatfell. The forest is rich in archaeological remains with several chambered cairns, standing stones and an Iron Age hill fort.
King's Cave
The views are spectacular here both inland and out to sea. Discover the cave on a raised beach and learn about the legendary stories of Robert the Bruce.
North Sannox
Visit the Fallen Rocks Trail here, where giant boulders remain from a spectacular rockfall. Walk along the wooded shore and you might just see a porpoise out at sea.
South End
Mixed woodland here provides great habitat for red squirrels. Visit the impressive Glenashdale Falls and if you enjoy cycling, there are some great longer distance options here.
Brodick Castle
The hill path to Goatfell starts here. There are also lots of walks in the shelter of the forest or within the castle grounds.
