Where we are

Latest forest information

Lemahamish car park and picnic site, along with a section of forest road and Easter Park Trail will be closed Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September due to a cycling event (Section 11 order from Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park).

About

Relax in this tranquil forest setting.

Lemahamish is located between the villages of Gartmore and Aberfoyle, nestled in the forest next to Camping in the Forests ‘Cobeland’ campsite. Enjoy a relaxing walk in the Oak woodland or a lazy picnic by the River Forth. It is a haven for wildlife such as red squirrel and sparrow hawk. Come here to see a spectacular bluebell display in the Spring and watch the sand martins swooping in and out of their riverbank nests throughout the Summer.

Walking

Easter Park Trail

A charming walk along the meandering River Forth and through the native oak woods of Easter Park. In spring there are bluebells and in autumn an array of fungi.

Sections of uneven earthy and rocky path with extensive muddy parts after heavy rain. Some fairly steep slopes. Includes a section of uneven tree roots and some low hanging branches.

More information

This trail – great for walking or cycling – begins and ends at Lemahamish car park with the option to walk to Aberfoyle village. The route winds over the hill through open native woodland and stately conifers, before returning along the river. Watch out for red squirrels amongst the conifers – Norway spruce seeds are their favourite food.

Activities

An ideal spot to practice some forest bathing and a more peaceful alternative to some of our busier sites in the nearby Trossachs.

Lemahamish offers peaceful walking, a link to Aberfoyle and the Doon Hill trail, the Sustrans NCN7 cycle route and the Rob Roy Way. Alternatively, if you are up for more of an adventure, it is a great spot to explore the wider Loch Ard forest by bike.
