A deep, woodland gorge with cascading waterfalls

Follow a magical trail that winds along a Victorian walkway up the dramatic rocky gorge. Pass several waterfalls beneath the towering Douglas firs. During your visit, keep a sharp eye out - you might spot the legendary Ghillie Dhu and some other mythic characters.

Puck’s Glen closure

Puck’s Glen Gorge will remain closed for public safety for the 2026 visitor season following severe storm damage. 

Due to the ongoing safety concerns, members of the public should avoid visiting Puck’s Glen Gorge.

Storm Eowyn (January 2025) caused major damage, making the trail unsafe.

Further storms this year have led to: 

  • erosion and fallen trees
  • hidden hazards such as undermined paths and stairs

These risks are not always visible, so the closure is essential for your safety.

What’s happening now?

  • clearing fallen trees and repairing paths is a complex, long-term task.

  • we’re planning a sustainable restoration, exploring partnerships and funding.

  • our team continues to monitor the gorge and carry out small maintenance to prevent further damage.

Alternative route available 

A circular route from Puck’s Glen car park linking Benmore and the wider forest is open.
