Forestry operations on site

  • Starting Monday 26 January, there will be tree felling operations being carried out Monday - Friday, in Castle O'er Forest. This will affect public access along forest roads in and adjacent to tree felling sites. Please follow all site signage and operator's instructions. We aim to open by the end of November 2026. A map of felling sites is displayed at Castle O'er car park.

  • Expect timber haulage and loading operations. Please do not pass timber lorries loading timber. Wait for the operator to see you and clearly signal for you to pass.

Getting here

Head towards Eskdalemuir from Lockerbie, Langholm or Hawick. Castle O’er is on a minor road off the B709 between Eskdalemuir and Langholm.
