When foresters felled the trees here in 1994 they uncovered the remains of this once-thriving crofting township. The residents were evicted 200 years ago to make way for sheep grazing. Miss Christina Stewart from Edinburgh bought the Glenmorvern Estate in 1824, and ordered the entire population to be evicted at once. With no official lease for their crofts, the families had no choice but to leave. We now protect these ruins as an atmospheric reminder of the area's heritage.
