The current Land Management Plan (LMP) is due to expire in 2027. Owing to resource constraints, the subsequent Long-Term Plan (LTP) will not be prepared and approved in sufficient time to support the planned 2027/28 harvesting programme.
An interim felling permission is therefore being sought to ensure sustainable forest management and delivery of the approved harvesting programme.
Following the felling, the areas will be replanted with a diverse mix of conifer and broadleaf species. The species selected should continue providing a sustainable timber resource while improving biodiversity and resilience for the future of Pitfichie & Corrennie Forest.
Renaming Land Management Plans as Long Term Plans
Land Management Plans are in the process of becoming known as Long Term Plans, a change needed as a result of changes taking place in legislation.
The Land Reform Act introduces an alternative use for the term Land Management Plan which relates specifically to the forthcoming obligations set out under this banner. These terms are used interchangeably on our website, but both currently reference our plans developed in line with the UK Forestry Standard.

- Winter 2026: Submission to Scottish Forestry for approval and public register consultation.
- Spring 2027: Felling permission formally approved
