Beattock Land Management Plan
Beattock Land Management Plan navigation
Beattock Land Management Plan (LMP) area covers 3672 ha of largely coniferous upland plantation forest, above the M74 corridor, northwest of the village of Beattock. It incorporates five forest blocks: Greskine, Rivox, Longbedholm, Earshaigs and Blacklaw.
It is part of Scotland’s national forests and land, owned by Scottish Ministers on behalf of the people of Scotland, and managed by Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS).
You can view the existing Land Management Plan here.
We are currently revising this LMP that will define the management prescription for the next ten years (2026-36) and present a vision for the long-term management of the plan area. The plan will be developed in accordance with the requirements of the UK Forestry Standard (UKFS) and its supporting guidelines. The UKFS is the benchmark for sustainable forestry practice and the Scottish Government is committed to its use.
Have your say
Views have been sought from the local community and a variety of stakeholders, and comments and suggestions have been considered during development of the plan. A summary of these is included in the plan, along with how they have been addressed.
The plan will shortly be submitted to Scottish Forestry who will place it on a Public Register for 28 days. During this formal consultation period, Scottish Forestry will accept further comments on the plan, and discuss any issues arising with FLS before the plan is approved.
